brians356
A friend ordered on of these about six months ago. He still cannot get even an estimate of delivery, and apparently no vendor is shipping them. Has anyone heard any scuttlebutt about this model? http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ETGCBBNB Brian
brad1
I've heard nothing. But there are a couple of them hanging on the wall here at the local GC. So they are around.
JasonG
I have been selling them for months at Sam Ash in Huntington NY. We have them in stock! A friend ordered on of these about six months ago. brians356
Thanks. In looking at Guitar Center's Casinos, I notice an apparently NEW Elitist MIJ Casino. Are there new MIJ Elitists being built again? This it the first I've seen for years. Or is that a NOS guitar at G.C.?

I'll ask my friend where he ordered his, maybe Sweetwater. And I'll tell him about you. But as I recall he got a special deal on his, so maybe that's why they has been unable to fill the order - they're selling them to people paying a higher price. Am I jaded? Guitar Center and Musicians Friend had the non-Bigsby in stock.

Guitar Center and Musicians Friend had the non-Bigsby in stock. Ah, that's a key. He ordered the Bibgsby version, sorry I forgot that. It's possible those are in shorter supply, or that certain outlets are farther back in the queue to fill orders.
brians356
production on the Elitist Casino never stopped. it's the only one that Epiphone kept in the mix Thanks, I never knew that. Does the current Elitist Casino still have a poly finish (like most if not all of the other Elitists)? The tech specs published by the various outlets do not mention what type of finish it has, I only see "hand-rubbed finish" on one site. My hunch is if it was lacquer they would take pains to trumpet that. And Epiphone's product page does not contain the word "finish" at all. "Studiously avoided". Of all the electric designs, the true hollow-body Casino (and ES-330 etc) would be most likely to benefit tonally from a lacquer finish, although I've never been convinced anyone could hear what type of finish any guitar sported in a blind test. For myself, a lacquer finish is more of a traditionalist, cosmetic thing - how it ages, and how it can be easily touched up if desired, etc.

I have two guitars with a nitro finish - an '08 Gibby LP and a '63 Guild Starfire IV. I can't notice any tonal difference between the various finishes, but then again, that's just me. As for your link with SW on the GC Jr model, MF shows them as in stock, with/without Bigsby.
JasonG
Our price is the same as Sweetwater. At one point Sweetwater was awarding prepaid orders with a hard shell case (which we honored as well) but as far as I can tell they stopped that promo. Thanks. I'll ask my friend where he ordered his, maybe Sweetwater. And I'll tell him about you. JasonG
I have both the vintage sunburst and natural Elitiist Casinos on the wall at my Sam Ash that I work at, both brand new. Epiphone still produces those MIJ Elitists! Thanks. In looking at Guitar Center's Casinos, I notice an apparently NEW Elitist MIJ Casino. Are there new MIJ Elitists being built again? lengle1981
I've been looking at one of these. I can't decide if I like the colour or not though. Has anyone had chance to take one for a test drive yet? There is a wrote up via guitar world and they rate it very highly. I loved my old casinos (I've had 2) but they had a tendency to squeal a little; however the review says this is different and the pups mean it's not like the standard epi models. I played one this past weekend and they're nice. they're built pretty much like the others but I think the Gibson P90's are a great plus. they sound better to my ears. at the end of the day you just have to decide if a blue guitar is right for you:) I do recommend trying one out though! brians356
If you play blues on a "blak 'n blu" guitar, you better back it up.
