Can someone identify this Gibson?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Even though I still own the Gibson I've bought and played 20 years ago, I must confess I never knew what model it actually is.

Someone once called it a Les Paul. Now that seems unlikely to me when I compare pictures in this forum and elsewhere.

Can someone identify this guitar?

Has somebody played this model before?

Other interesting hints?

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you!

Good call, cody78.

Great guitar that Nighthawk, Jean-Noel.

By that serial number, yours was made by Gibson in Nashville Tennessee in 1994.

Your finish was called Transparent Amber, that over a beautiful figured maple top.

Retailing for $1,599 back in the day, your Nighthawk Standard (DSNS) is now worth $1,100 in mint condition, or $900 in Excellent Plus condition.

Nice guitar!!

Thank you so much guys for all these answers! =D>

It seems that I got myself an unusual Gibson model back in the days, without even knowing it.

But now I wonder how a Les Paul would be different to play... (I'm off to the guitar store [biggrin])

Other than most Gibsons, the Nighthawks have a 25.5" scale, typical for classical guitars and Fenders. Rather distinctive guitars indeed.

Curious as I am I just verified that.

You're perfectly right capmaster, the scale is 25.5"

And thanks for the price estimation sparquelito. Though I don't consider to sell it.

But what does DSNS stand for?

I'm glad I found this valuable forum.
