SGs with thin narrow neck

Hi,

I bought a 2012 AY Signature, and it has a thin narrow neck that I love - and must have because of my messed-up hands. The specs on this neck (as correctly posted by GC and incorrect on the gibby site) are: 0.775” thick at the 1st fret, and 0.850” thick at the 12th, with a nut width of 1.550”.

I love "Angus" - I put an SD Pearly Gates in the neck and and SD JB in the bridge, works great for my AllBros tribute band.

But lately I've been craving a P90 guitar for a 2nd. Besides the AY Sig, what other SGs have this thin narrow neck? My budget is basically $1k, but you know how that goes...

Thanks!

The SG Junior has a P-90, and "60's slim taper neck!" About any of the '60's reissues, will have that kind of neck.

The new 2016 SG Standard P-90, is interesting, although it states a "rounded" profile neck. My personal experience,

with "rounded profile" means everything from '50's fat necks, to barely discernible from a '60's profile, except that

it's not as "flat" in the middle. So, being "hand carved," they can vary a LOT! Best to find a model that interests

you, and go and try out as many as possible.

Argh, the 2016 Xtra Slim was a limited run and is already sold out.

Charlie Brown, the variance in necks is very noticeable on the early 70s models. There is a 71 at my local GC that has the correct nut width, but gets very fat very fast going up the neck, unplayable by me.

Patience grasshopper...

Well, I'm used to all kinds of guitar neck profiles. My guitar's necks vary, both in width and thickness.

Some are thin (my Ric's, 76 LP Deluxe, and my '66 Epi Casino), other's are "normal" '60's...all my SG's, and still

other's are rounder, and thicker (my '64 Strat, Gibson "Lucille", etc.). So, I've become used to them all, over

the years, and (generally) adapt, pretty quickly. I have a couple double cut LP "Junior Lite's," and they're

supposed to have '60's profile necks, but they're both quite different feeling/shaped, even within that specification.

So..."Patience," indeed! [biggrin]
