garyd
I wanted to find a guitar to use while my other acoustic was being repaired. so shopping on craigslist I found one that had just been posted an hour before, and it happened to be just about 10 blocks away from me. it was an AJ 15 EB claimed to be in perfect condition only played once, price $30 I immediately called to come see it bringing my $30 dollars. It was a guy moving to another city out of his mom's house, and it looked in unused condition like it had never been taken out of the case, except for the treble e string missing. So, I bought it got it home replaced the string got it tuned up and I really like it, sounds great to me, although i've never played a $3000 guitar I think I got a good deal I wanted to know if anyone has the info on it, the serial number lookup and wiki give me no info on the factory or contruction of this model. SN is QG03022436, it has grover tuners, black with plain black pick guard and cream trim and the truss rod cover says "Gibson AJ" any info on the construction and history would be appreciated, but I am happy with it regardless
Leonard McCoy
While the AJ-15 is an inexpensive model (street price around 100 bucks), I still think you made an excellent deal here, considering the guitar seems to be in good condition. The serial number you have provided (QG03022436) reveals the following: QG: Qingdao Gibson, China (factory) 03: 2003 (year of manufacture) 02: February (month of manufacture) 2436: unit no. The guitar is entirely made out of laminated wood. AJ-15 Specs: Sloped shoulder advanced jumbo body style Select Spruce top Mahogany body Set mahogany neck Rosewood Fingerboard with dot inlays Rosewood veneered headstock with no inlay Reverse-belly rosewood bridge White bridge pins with black dots Multi-ply body binding Black single-ply pickguard with "E" emblem Multi-ply 3-ring rosette Die-cast tuners Chrome hardware 25.5" scale 1.68" nut width
