68 reissue

CustomMade

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

This is my first post so I want to start by saying hello! I have joined because I am taking my interest in guitars to a different level and of course I need guidance on this journey.

I have the chance to buy a 2001 LP Custom 68 reissue in tri burst but a serial number search returns that the guitar was made in 68. Is this right as its a reproduction? Also is it correct that this model would not come with a certificate from the custom shop? Any other guidance and advice in this model would be seriously appreciated along with what I should be looking to pay for this guitar.

Many thanks,

Luke

I'm no expert but I thought all the '68 RI Tri-Burst were GC exclusive.

I had an '07 and it had a COA

I see them going between 2400-2800

The Tri-Burst was actually a color that was offered through Gibson and it was one of the first colors that G.C. offered on thier 68's. The feature that made G.C. 68's exsclusive to them was all theirs were ordered from Gibson with a 60's slim taper neck. If you were to buy the same guitar through an authorized Gibson dealer it would have been the same guitar only it would be speced with a 50's rounded neck profile. No other differences other than the neck.
