Gibson Lespaul special P90 sound dark and muddy

Recommended Posts

Hello and welcome...

That's a real nice gift you got there :)

As for muddy or dark sounds.. Well im assuming that its got P90 pickups which are much darker than humbuckers... (there are several different versions of LP Specials).

But really there is no standard pickup height.. Just adjust them until it sounds how you want it... if you cant get any good sounds then maybe the capacitor is not working?

Just don't put the pickups too close to the strings as that will kill the sustain (as the magnets will pull on the strings) and not sound that good everything else is just personal preference.

Hope that helps [thumbup]
