DSN893
Hello, I have a NASCAR Gibson Les Paul that I have been trying to verify for the past 2 weeks. I have called Gibson and sent them pictures, yet no one has answered me. I'm hoping someone here can help. Thank you for your time. The serial number is CS20807. Guest Farnsbarns
None of the usual signs of a fake Gibson. As to whether it's genuinely the limited edition Nascar guitar that it appears to be, I see no reason to think otherwise but have never seen or heard of them before so take that as you will. Gibson should get back to you. Custom shop records may be slower to dig up than otherwise. If it was awarded to someone, as a prize or similar they may be trying to contact them to find out there knowledge of its whereabouts. Value? Very subjective and specialist, I'm not going near even thinking about having a guess.
Rabs
Well yup it all seems real.. The guitar itself looks genuine... I just looked it up.. Sam Bass is a real official NASCAR artist. Heres his site http://sambassgallery.com/ And Gibson themselves have a page up for these guitars http://www.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/Events/en-us/nascar-0727-2011.aspx So yes... It all seems real enough.. As to the value of it.. Well its such a specialised thing that I couldn't say.. Youd have to auction it to the right people. Id say though it would certainly be worth more than an average custom with that artwork on it. As to how much I have no idea. Maybe contact Sam Bass himself and see if he has the serial numbers for the guitars he painted?
DSN893
Great! I contacted Gibson today and Vince, in customer service, said they were off last Friday due to the weather, but he is still looking into it.
SteveT2
They do award them as trophies at some races. Kyle Busch did a Pete Townshend imitation with one. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to reach through my TV and smack him

CR9
Sam does the best graphic work on guitars out there. No photo can ever capture how great they look in person. He is also one great guy to talk with. I would love to own one of his guitars. When NASCAR starts racing at the Nashville speedway again, we may get to see a few more of his guitars.
