Is it Brazilian? 2002 R7 prototype

Recommended Posts

Hello and welcome to the Forums!

Well, could You please post a good quality picture of the 'board? It is impossible to judge by these.

Maybe, something like this:

By the way, that's a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard of a 1978 Les Paul Recording, opposed to the Indian Rosewood below:

Best wishes... Bence

Judging from the pics already posted, a better one still might not help.

Sometimes it's obvious and you can tell, but more often you can't tell even looking in person. Brazilian and Indian can look real close to each other.

Not sure about the "prototype" description. Don't know what that could mean or how it would apply to this guitar.

I would email pics to Gibson and let them tell you what it is. Probably the only way you are going to know. If it is Brazilian, likely the only way it will matter is with documentation anyway.
