It's a non-standard serial number so it doesn't tell you much. Probably built in 2011 in China:

Flyingarmidillo, thanks for the info and the link.

I got '03 sept for month and 271 for number made. and japan as manufacturer.

Thanks again.

these are actually made in China at Gibson's Qingdao factory. The "F" in the serial number is in tribute to the '60's serial numbers.

F-Serial used on LP Std'59/'60 models and Tribute/Plus models

This newest serial number system used by Epiphone is not yet completely deciphered.

'F' doesn't refer to 'Fine, Korea' - nor to 'Fuji-gen, Japan' - New "F" models are made in China.

This serial number system doesn't exactly tell the year - and doesn't tell the month at all.

Beginning with F300000 in late 2009 used on LP Std'59/Std'60/Tribute models

Continued around F310650~F311050 in spring 2012 on Tribute-Plus models

Continued around F305000 in 2011

Continued around F310000 in 2012

Continued around F317000 in 2013

Continued around F324000 in 2014

Continued around F330000 in 2015

That's what I got when I first looked, then I did more research and found out that that model wasn't produced until 2010. That leads you to the part that LPS1976 posted.

In case anyone is interested in these, I posted a link above from Epiphone's website.

According to them there were 2 versions of these made.

V1 has the '59 neck size, in Heritage burst.

Gibson burstbuckers 1 and 2 for pups. Switchcraft switch and mallory cap for the controls.

The V3 Slim D neck, with 2 different color choices. Same otherwise as for pups etc.

According to their site there were only 1960 of these made total(both versions together) worldwide.

I guess I feel kind of lucky to get hold of one.

It is very nice to play(big neck fits my hand with no cramping) and sounds great.

I have no comparison between the Epi and a Gibson in sound with these pups in each.

But if the Gibson sounds any better whoa what a guitar it must be.

So all in all I have only had this guitar for a few days but have been getting used to it.

I think I have found a keeper. Now I have a brother for my ES335 pro.
