capmaster
Hello Jim, and welcome here. There's no red flag visible on your SG. Looks legit to me - congrats! However, hi-res pics uploaded to an account at a cloud photo provider and linked here via IMG data will translate better. The total memory space per member is only 500 kB. Have fun playing your SG! :)
sparquelito
By that serial number, your guitar was made at the Gibson plant in Nashville, Tennessee on March 14th, 2008. Production Number: 171. Like cap master said, it looks authentic.

capmaster
I know about SN verifying but I was told that china out this authentic numbers at their Fibsons too... This is sad but true. Back in the day they used fantasy numbering, then changed to numbers according to the Gibson pattern, and finally they are copying the numbers of guitars of faked build and finish. Therefore the Gibson Customer Service also demands pictures of an instrument in question for verification.
