Rechargeable Batteries

I wanted to use Rechargeable Batteries for 2 reasons: 1. it's less wasteful in general and 2. I hate having to guess when the battery is gone die and don't want to be stuck in the middle of a performance with no sound. You can always just try and keep track of how long you have used it and change it out ahead of time but you will always be throwing away batteries that still have juice (or getting stuck with a dead battery). I decided to get 2 NiMh rechargeable and switch out every day or 2 (or before each performance) so that I always know I'm good to go. The problem with 9V rechargeable is that manufacturers have decided that as long as it looks like a 9V you can call it that even if the nominal voltage is 7.2. Some are 7.2 and some are 9.6 (I guess depending on how many little cells they fit in there). The 7.2V models won't work with your synapse: it will at 1st but will only last for an hour or so. The 9.6V models will work but some are too big and the chargers they come with are not necessarily reliable. The mAh rating is not important: the guitar does not pull a lot of current. I also tried some ELB Li-Ion "9V" which turned out to be 7.2V and did not work. I've found that after years of using NmH rechargeable (9V, AA, AAA) that the chargers they come with are usually junk and the batteries end up dying way before advertised. I ended up investing in a fancy battery charger/conditioner for my AA's (Maha PowerEx MH-C808M Ultimate Professional Charger $90 for AAA, AA) and it ended up making so old batteries that would not charge in a cheap charger usable again. I may do that for my 9V as well. The Maha MH-C490F listed above works OK but I've only been using it with the Spyder batteries for 6 months and it's not really a conditioner.
