I noticed a purple Gibson axcess guitar while browsing on Reverb.com today. It says that it is a custom and I am not certain what this means? What is a custom Axcess and what is a standard Axcess? Is purple a standard color? And while I'm asking what does quilt mean? I'm sorry if I sound new to all of this but I am.

like this?

http://www.gibson.co...s-Standard.aspx

I think the "Custom" is just the deontation of a something from the "Custom" line. IF you look at the link, it's listed as an Access Standard.

so really who knows, Gibson name dejour...

then there's theAlex Lifeson signature

Browsing Reverb.com I found this Gibson Limited Edition Les Paul Custom Axcess in Translucent Purple with gold hardware: https://reverb.com/i...m-axcess-guitar

Is this the one you're talking about? It doesn't look like a Quilt Top though.

I noticed that this one has a diamond design at the top of the neck and the other being called a standard does not. The seller told me this one is a maple flametop? What does this mean and what exactly is a quilt? I'm learning so I appoligize for my lack of guitar terminology.

.
I looked into these quite a bit when they first came out.

The Standard is finish and trimmed like a LP STD - single layer binding etc. The Custom has a bit of fancy trim including a split diamond inlay on the headstock and multi-layer binding on the headstock and body. Unfortunately you've got dealers and sellers calling both guitars "Custom". Here's an example from Wildwood Guitars - http://www.wildwoodg...paul_axcess.htm

Flame and quilt refer to the type of figuring in the wood.
