It's a ukulele.

 

Originally invented on Oahu at the turn of the century as a bass guitar for men with extremely small hands, the ukulele has since gone on to be a staple instrument at beach parties, dorm gatherings, and conventions where spider-monkeys ride on the backs of Shetland ponies.

 

I own one myself, though I must admit, I have normal sized hands.

From reference material I have

sn-28347 = 1915 (Spann's). This label would had not existed. Loar was not there.

 

Loar worked for Gibson from 1919 to 1924 (Wiki). I didn't know they had magic markers back then

Seller did not list FON. 1915 FON's 2950-3289 A couple of them are listed as U models (Spann's)

I could not find anything on a U5, but it could had been an answer to the Martin K5
