kent04
I am happily about to begin my first build. I'll be trying out a design i haven't seen, a Hybrid solid body / hollow body the ES 225 im building will be solid on the pick-guard side of the center line and hollow on the upper side of the center line. my crude image spells out roughly what i intend on creating I'll be using the method from this thread to cut the carve out of the top and the hollow portion http://www.tdpri.com/threads/a-simple-archtop-carving-method.139456/ has anyone seen or played a truly half solid body, half hollow-body before? can anyone foresee problems with this construction
Versatile
There are a few half solid/half hollow guitars around from the likes of Rickenbacker, Duesenberg, Fender et al.... I have a Duesenberg CC model similar to the one played by Joe Walsh.... The ES225 is an established hollow P90 Florentine slimline hollow.... Some luthiers take a solid body guitar and hollow out one side to lower the weight and 'aerate' the sound... Enjoy the project V
