gcpicken
Hi - When I got my new ES-335 home from the dealer, I removed the protective cover paper from the pickguard. Only the top of the paper came off, leaving a gritty and gummy residue on the guard. In trying to remove the residue, some of the residue got on the finish. I did not try anything on the part of the residue that is on the finish, but the effort to remove it from the pickguard resulted in me having to order a new pickguard. I tried a little rubbing with my finger. I tried a little detergent, carefully. I tried a little alcohol. I tried Goof-Off. I tried Mineral spirits. I would never try those things on the finish of the Guitar body, so do you have any thoughts on how to remove this gummy residue from the finish? cjsinla
Naphtha or lighter fluid is what many here recommend. Alcohol will dull the finish in my experience. Also, I've never had a problem on any guitar like you described. This happened on a real Gibson?

gcpicken
DING Thank you guys. In fact I have some guitar polish which I used sparingly on the little location that had the gumminess on it. It worked, so I am all good and thank you for your suggestion.
