My 62nd birthday today, so a real treat -

Grilled (rare) Scotch ribeye steak, about 2/3 lb, peas, 'American' curly fries and mustard gravy

Strawberries and blueberries with Greek yogurt with honey

I REALLY enjoyed it.

Beer and a large rum too...

Cheers, best wishes and good health to all!

Still in hospital but at least my diet has been upgraded to close to normal.

Surprisingly good meals for hospital fare! Too much food though and weight will be going on soon.

That sounds like a good hospital!

All the same, I hope you get out soon Digger.

After a week of salad & stir fry veg, I'm looking forward to some fish & chips before the weekends out.

You know it's Saturday morning here and our tradition is to have an egg & bacon roll for brekkie but y'know I'm not sure I want that?

Might just have some muesli and a hand full of prunes.

I'm out of hospital by the way.

Gonna have to step the food up a bit as today I hit 65 kilos, the weight I was when I was 20. That also represents a 20 kilo drop in 3 months.

My arm and leg muscles are all gone.

So it's roast lamb tonight and I'm gonna pig out!!!

On a health kick for the next month or so....

Breakfast today Bran Flakes with Soya Milk

Lunch will be chili/curry flavoured pulse soup/stew with wholemeal bread

Supper...Vegemite spread wholemeal bread with sauerkraut, lettuce...

Interspersed with oat flapjack, nectarines, banana, plums...maybe a Royal Gala apple

Also trying out some weirdo milks....Hemp, Oat, Rice

It's a sort-of semi Vegan thing I'm following to see if it has any feelgood benefits...

Some Thai/Indian (can't be arsed to go out into the kitchen and look... from somewhere where they make good chicken dishes) chicken TV dinner thingy. Not bad at all.

Of course, it's definitely made somewhere else, but really good. "Chicken Epiphone", I'm gonna call it.

Toast and more toast with cheese on.

Chicken sandwich.

Ham and cheese rolls and ham and chicken roll on the way back from an afternoon gig.

Too much carbohydrates I think (as I enjoy a Saturday night beer).

Turkey burgers, stir-fried in olive oil and garlic, with sliced cherry tomatoes and jalapeño peppers, fresh from my garden.

Topped with cheddar cheese and pepper-jack cheese and black pepper.

With some ranch dressing on the side.

Man.

So good.

Here are the leftovers.

I have eased into a 50/50 Vegemite...Marmite lifestyle in recent months....

They are different yet tasty in their own way each

And IMO make a nutritious snack meal for when laziness comes to the fore
