Raising action and pups

Recommended Posts

Quick questions:

If I want to raise the action a little, do I need to adjust the truss rod accordingly, or is that something I can do afterwards if need be?

And, clockwise or counterclockwise to raise the pups?

Cheers.

Given the neck relief is fine now, a need for truss-rod adjustment after raising action a little is not very likely, at most a tad of tightening (clockwise). Of course, truss-rod adjustment is possible whenever required! [thumbup]

Turning the two mounting and adjustment screws clockwise will raise the pickups.

You will have to raise the neck pickup very little only. The string clearance over the neck pickup is rather defined by fretting at the uppermost fret, the 22nd in this case, than by bridge height. This is the other way round for the bridge pickup where bridge height plays a much bigger role than fretting at the 22nd fret.

Hope this helps.

Thank you!

I actually added a tad of relief, as it was basically dead straight. We'll see how it feels in the morning ;)

Thanks again - and good point about the pup distances. I never thought of that.
