Gibson Classical Guitar

Recommended Posts

There's not much info out there on them. There;s very little available online about Gibson classicals in general but particularly about the C-L. In the late 1960s Gibson was trying to maintain a presence in the low end market and the models that had filled that niche throughout the 60s (the C-0 classical and the LG-0 steel string) were creeping up in price. Their answer was to make an even cheaper version of both, the B-15 steel string, with no body binding at all and a narrow headstock, and the C-L classical with no binding and a black logo. It didn't really do what they set out to do and led to some interesting weird uncatalogued variations around 1970 or 71. Of course anyone hoping to nail Gibson down to any one documented spec sheet is in for a rude shock sooner or later anyway!
