Were Electric Epis ever built at Bozeman?

Recommended Posts

I have a Sheraton II that the seller claimed was build at Bozeman in 2000. The serial number on the f-hole sticker shows 00050088. If you punch that into the guitar dater project site you get the build details as Bozeman Jan 2000 or Korea May 2000 depending on whether you check the 'America' box or not. Did Gibson really run the same serial number sequence concurrently in two of its plants. If so,how do you tell the two products apart? There are several other suspicions about the instrument's authenticity but any certainty, or otherwise, that Sheratons were ever made at Bozeman (and why at their acoustic factory one wonders?)would be at least a start in finding the truth. Thanks.

the only Epiphones that were ever built in Bozeman (to my knowledge) were the McCartney Texans. I don't think they make ANY electrics in Bozeman; Gibson or Epi. pics of your guitar and label would help id it better.
