Sadly, Gord Downie (52) singer for the band The Tragically Hip, has been diagnosed with a rare terminal brain cancer. He is bravely going to go on tour for one last time. Doctors say this kind of cancer claims most people within 15 months.

The band managers released more details about it — an aggressive, incurable form of cancer called glioblastoma —

I can't imagine how a person deals with news like this on a personal level.

Maybe it's harder for those around them? I don't know.. faced with knowing about how much time you have left..

heavy stuff...

I wish him the best through this journey.

I know, I mean we all have an expiration date, I guess I just don't really care to know when it will be.. or how... right?

My brother in-law had small intestinal cancer, passed some 20 years now. We found out much later, that he pretty much knew post surgery what his odds were. He was not expected to live for more than 2/2.5 years. He made it 5+, but all that time, we never knew they considered his cancer incurable. it was always just a matter of time.

It wasn't until he got near the end of it, he called a family meeting at the hospital, we knew it didn't seem right with how things were going at that time. I guess he figured it was time to let us know. Hhe was 34 years old, two kids, wife, I asked him one day soon after why didn't he tell us. "What difference would it have made other than how it effected you all. You didn't need to know"

Courage!
