capmaster Posted May 30, 2016 Share Posted May 30, 2016 The fretboard radius of my Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess is 12" as specified, but some other specifications published on the product webpage are wrong. Among them is the locking nut allegedly an R4. However, the stock part has been a cheap R3 knockoff falling short of either correct length and height. I replaced it with a Schaller R3. Doing so I discovered the laminated fretboard... <_< Furthermore they say the hardware was nickel-plated, but the metal parts are covered with chrome, except, as always with Deluxe tuners, for the nickel-plated machine head gear housings. I don't have the Lifeson version but something seems a bit off with the nut so I am thinking I want to try an R3 nut. Anyone else out there know what's up? Should we use an R3 or R4 nut?
