Acoustic Electric or Electric Acoustic

I am looking to get into something more acoustic in nature vs a total solid body electric. I was wondering what is the main sonic differences between an Acoustic/Electric like for example the EJ-200sce or an Electric/Acoustic like for example a Casino Coupe. In an acoustic mode I am assuming the EJ is going to be louder, probably with a more balanced tone overall ?? And likewise the Casino weaker across the board? Amplified, I am thinking it would be pretty much just the opposite with the Casino sounding the better of the two. Is that accurate? I can not help feeling that with good electronics though, the EJ200 would end up with the more pleasing sound both unplugged and plugged in. Very confused by the whole thing. I guess I am wondering why you have both when it looks like they are to a large degree, interchangeable.

Wow! Pretty hard to answer without sounding rude or patronizing.

You are comparing apples and oranges and they are in no way interchangeable. The EJ is an acoustic guitar, period. The fact that it has on board electronics is largely irrelevant, they are only there as a means of amplifying the acoustic sound so it can be heard by more people at greater distances.

The Casino is an electric guitar whose hollow body has a large influence on its amplified sound. While you don't have to plug it in to play it, nobody would consider playing a gig, or recording unplugged with a hollow body electric.

I have to add that my EJ-200SCE can certainly produce some great electric guitar tones.

The Epiphone eSonic pups (nanoflex and magnaflex)when used with the stereo jacks can really blow you away.

Just for fun, plug into two different modeling amps with different effects..

Pretty darn cool!
