LPS1976
He plays anything he can get a sponser to pay him to play. He'll play a Ukelele if he can get a deal. well, he's a guitar player so...he probably plays whatever he feels fits the song or whatever guitar he wants. a Casino isn't right for EVERY song. sometimes you need to play a Strat or a SG or whatever. Besides, I'm sure he's doing ok in the $$ department and doesn't get paid to play anything. yes, I'm sure he gets a percentage of the Casino since he lent his name to it but Fender probably just sends him a guitar if he asks. I seriously doubt they send it with a check in the case.

Tone+Volume
I am a huge fan of this model since I first saw it. When I finally set out on the road to a Hollow or Semi-H I am pretty sure this will be my inspiration.
Dennis G
Gear whore? Not said in a bad way either. If I were him and had mfgr's throwing guitars and money my way, well... That said, he did seem pretty impressed with the Casino as his "go to" guitar, so go figure...
RevDavidLee
I'm not knocking his signature guitar or the fact that he plays other brands - I just found it humorous. I'm fairly certain at this point that since I'll never be famous I will never have my own name brand signature guitar so all I can do is poke fun of those that do :) I remember the first time I played an Eric Johnson strat at a local shop & when I picked it up to examine it the back plate was missing. I pointed it out to the store clerk because I thought perhaps that someone had stolen it - the snotty clerk informed me that THAT is how Eric Johnson's strat is. I told him that for over $1600 I would expect a back plate then I sat it down and left.
BuddyHollywood
I heard his vintage SG was a gift from Pat Smear. He had previously never thought about playing an SG until he received this guitar which I believe was after his signature Casino was already released. He was happy with Casinos and bought a bunch of them through the years. He uses his Strat for certain songs. Only a Strat can do what a Strat can do, you know? He still plays his Casinos too. You can't fault an artist for using their favorite instruments.

rct
RCT, that's probably one of the best looking Strats I've ever seen! the binding on the neck looks rad and the blue is fantastic!! Years, YEARS I looked for that. At the factory in 2013 they only had the other blue, a couple of these Tropical Turquoise were getting ready to be finished, but I wasn't paying MSRP plus tax. On my 55th birthday we were at the Hard Rock Hotel in Universal Orlando and Mrs inSISted we go out to the guitars shops and Sam Ash had not just one of these that was all scuffed up and gnarly, but TWO, one still in the box. Never thought I'd own one. That neck is just delicious. Pickups are great, but unpotted and a bit of trouble when I'm jammed up close to the amp. I love that guitar. rct

dReit1
I've always thought signature guitars were just overpriced hoopla. I'm guessing that when Eric Johnson wanted a strat he went to Guitar Center and played all the strats they had on the wall and took the one that spoke to him home. So for Fender (or anyone else) to make one that looked like the one that Eric likes doesn't mean that it's as good as the one he bought. It just looks the same. For my money(which ain't a lot)I think the ole traditional way of try them all, buy the one I like. Is a better option than buying one that looks like the one someone else liked. Of course my 2 cents aren't worth much these days..
kidblast
Never really had much interest in signature models myself either, but at times, I notice that some have some great nice added features. one that comes to mind is the Jackson Brown j45.. it's quite a bit deeper than a regular J45, (among some other things..) rct
I have no interest whatsoever in signature guitars, and I can name exactly one Eric Johnson song. I have met him and chatted, and he is a very nice guy and a great guitar player. But a bound necked Strat? I am so there. That thing is pure luxury. rct
Sunfist
Can't say too much about Gary Clark not playing his signature Casino very often, if at all. I have NEVER seen Joe Bonamassa play his Epiphone Les Paul, so I guess once you get the check you just go on your way and do what you want and tell people that Epiphone is just for children, real men play $8000 Signature Gibsons. LPS1976
Not so many guitarists play chinese guitars on stage . judging from the posts you make; you're obviously not a fan of Chinese guitars or Epiphones for that matter. why not go over to the Gibson section of the forum instead of baiting the members here to get into some debate. you're a guitar snob and that's fine but stop acting like these guitars are inferior. JerseyRay
Yea, same with Tony Iommi, I've see his lineup of guitars for a concert, no epiphone signature in the lineup. Now, truth be told... Gibson IS a better guitar then a epiphone. That's not to say epiphone's are bad at all. My epi SG is just fine by me... I may end up getting a Gibson SG sometime, but I can't say I'm really in a hurry. I may put a bigsby on mine, and thinking about Gibson 57 humbuckers. Seems like a lot of investment into a epiphone, but it will be one really bad *** epiphone....

gary n c
Gary Clark Jr. played his signature Casino at the 2016 Grammys for the B.B.King tribute. (with Chris Stapleton and Bonnie Raitt). Easy to find if you search the 2016 Grammys.
Zentar
The Casinos being made now are one of the best guitar values on the market. All they need is the pups replaced with a set of P90s in the 8ko range. Or you can buy the Gary Clark Jr model which comes with 8ko Gibson P90s already installed. You needn't change anything. I own a used 2014 Casino that I bought for $500 including case and aftermarket P90s. I think it's the most obtainable quality electric currently being made. I think the neck and fretboard are what makes the Casino such a deal. The neck plays like a $2000 guitar.
