NOT a Gibson ES120 T

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Someone is selling this guitar in my area, but has it listed as a 1966 Gibson ES120 T. But it obviously isn't. It's also priced at $1100 so I'm very skeptical of what it is. I just want to be sure its not a knockoff, because I am very interested in the guitar. I plan to meet him and try it out in the near future, but if its a fake then I won't have to bother. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Well evidently it looks like an ES 335-type guitar; if it was from the 60s it would be worth a whole lot more.

There is a red label just visible inside the f-hole on the opposite side to the controls, which will give you more info.

One for the experts!

The guitar in the photos appears to be an authentic Gibson ES-335TD. I can't quite make out the first digit of the serial number, so I can't be very accurate as to the date, but 1966 is possible, as is 1967-1970.

I've seen enough bogus ads to cause me to be skeptical about whether this is a legit sale (especially considering the mid-identification of the model), but if it's something local that you can check out in person, it may turn out to be a very good deal.
