Welcome back . . . nice of you to check in, and congrats on pushing away from the keyboard- 'suppose you've been playing guitar more than talking guitar: (+1).

Thanks to Big G, we've been adding to your ever-growing list of available flavors of the J-45.

Play any free gigs lately ; ) ? Don't worry, you can tell us about them - for better or worse, both Jerry K and Parlourman have fallen on their swords.

Hope all is well.

Hello OWF - good to hear from you.

Had the idea you were travelling the far deep East and forgot all about western civilisation for a while.

You been away before.

Stay tuned ^ and keep the six strings chiming

Wiley, Welcome Back!

I agree with 62burst: Please tell us about your gigs--always loved to read your reports. In fact, you'll find a couple of the OGs have been gigging a lot lately and telling us about their exploits.

It's acceptable now in our new era of gigging glasnost.

Good to see you back, Wily. It's true, at least for here: you can always go back home. We're still kickin' in here. Debating the same things we've debated for years...lol...No real resolutions yet, but it is fun debating them..........So---have you got any new guitars since you left for a while? Still playing coffeehouses? I hope all has been well with you and yours. Welcome home and it's good to see you.

Well, guys, thanks for the warm welcome back. Good to see some of the old familiar names of players I grew to enjoy and respect over the years......On the guitar acquisition path, I've been pretty good, sold a few, bought a few, but have really settled down from buying for quite some time. I've got MORE than I could ever imagine I would ever have. I pretty much play 3 now, 1933 Martin R-18, 1953 Gibson CF-100, and 1961 Martin 00-17. Pretty much all 00 size all with mahogany B&S......and all UNIQUE sounding. I have been playing once a week at a local cafe for 2 hours on Sunday mornings.....pretty laid back, just acoustic with no amplification. Good way to keep the old standards fresh. Learning to put a lot more feeling into my voice, and embellishing more with the guitar...just enjoying it, that's all. One or two open mica a month to round things out. All in all, as someone said, playing more than surfing these days. I've been learning some of the oldies like, "Please don't talk about me when I'm gone", "Stormy weather", "Ain't misbehaving", and"Tomorrow Night", to mention a few. Love those chord progressions....it is truly my wish that you all are doing well and that music is a big plus in your lives. I will try to drop in more regularly in the future!

A woman was at her hairdresser's getting her hair styled for a trip

to Rome with her husband..

She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded: " Rome? Why would anyone want to go there?

It's crowded and dirty.

You're crazy to go to Rome. So, how are you getting there?"

"We're taking Continental," was the reply. "We got a great rate!"

"Continental?" exclaimed the hairdresser. "That's a terrible airline.

Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they're always late. So, where

are you staying in Rome?"

"We'll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome'sTiber River called Teste."

"Don't go

any further. I know that place. Everybody thinks it's going

to be something special and exclusive, but it's really a dump."

"We're going to go to see the Vatican and maybe get to see the Pope.""That's rich," laughed the

hairdresser. "You and a million other people trying to see him. He'll look the size of an ant. Boy,

good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You're going to need it."

A month later, the woman again came in for a hairdo.

The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome.

"It was wonderful," explained the woman,"not only were we on

time in one of Continental's brand new planes, but it was overbooked, and they bumped us

up to first class. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28-year-old steward

who waited on me hand and foot..

And the hotel was great! They'd just finished a $5 million remodeling job, and now it's a jewel,

the finest hotel in the city. They, too, were overbooked, so they apologized and gave us their owner's

suite at no extra charge!"

"Well," muttered the hairdresser, "that's all well and good,

but I know you didn't get to see the Pope." "Actually, we were quite lucky, because as we toured the Vatican,

a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder, and explained that the

Pope likes to meet some of the visitors, and if I'd be so kind as to

step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me. Sure enough, five minutes later,

the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me.."

"Oh, really! What'd he say?"

He said: "Who screwed up your hair?"

Hey Wily - welcome back - I've also taken to lurking more than posting; I'm Gibson free as of last week (unless you count my Epi Casady bass or my Fairbanks NL). Been in de-GASsing mode this year :-)
