I don' t like copies,

The wood is bad quality, hardware is cheap and humbuckers are very bad. Tuners, potentiomètres, switch, ... are very bad quality.

The body is made of 6 or 7 parts with a photoflame finish. Price is very high

Honestly, Regarding the Epi 335 PRO, on a semi-acoustic the body is laminate so wood quality is not an issue, the pickups are really nice upgraded models, and the tuners and electrics are solid.

In fact, all new Epiphones these days have significantly upped the quality.

And this is coming from a Gisbon man

Besides three Gibson USA and two Gibson Custom Les Paul guitars I'm proud owner of an Epiphone Les Paul 1960 Tribute Plus. It has a five-piece body with back veneer, solid maple top with bookmatched flamed maple veneer, Gibson '57 Classic/'57 Classic Plus pickups, CTS pots with two of them including push/pull switches for series/parallel coil options, Mallory 150 series foil capacitors, Switchcraft toggle switch and output jack, all stock. Great guitar, nicely made, very playable. I already owned two Gibson LPs when I bought her, and be sure I knew why. I'm still very fine with her. [thumbup]

As for the OP, they don't make a left-handed Les Paul Tribute Plus model. Too bad, too sad. <_<

As far as I know Epiphone never used photoflame finishes. They always glued veneers of real figured maple to plain maple tops. Fender made their "Foto Flame" series in Japan during the 1990s, I think some Yamahas and Ibanezes were made this way then, too, and perhaps some more. There have also been photoflame necks and photoquilt bodies.

Fender used "Foto Flames" for a short period in the past. I've looked for info on Epi photo flames, but I've seen no proof. Sounds like an urban myth.

No, the ProBuckers on mine, for instance, are wonderful. The wood, as long as it sounds great - as good, if you like, I'm happy. The tuners are fine. The hardware is fine.

But whatever. Each to their own, yourself included.

While I’m no guitar expert, I think Epi’s are great guitars for the money. Having said that, you get what you pay for. A few years ago, I purchased an Epiphone Riviera Custom P93. It didn’t take me long to realize the craftsmanship and components left something to be desired, so I decided to make a few upgrades. I kept the original pick-ups, but replaced all of the Asian made electronics. Put in a new bridge and had a bone nut installed. The guitar looks like a museum piece, sounds great and stays in tune.

I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer to the question raised in the original post. Beauty and value of a guitar are in the eye of the beholder. I love playing my guitar, which at the end of the day, is all that really counts.

Dude you know nothing of what you speak....you obviously don't know what a veneer is, you should look it up before spouting your constant nonsense. Here let me help since you seem to be helpless.

Photo flame is just that, a fancy picture stuck on.

"Veneer - a decorative covering of fine WOOD applied to a coarser wood or other material". This technique has been in use for furniture and other wood projects longer than you have walked this green earth, so please, please give it a rest already.

I own many Epi's manufactured from 1998 up to 2010 and I can guarantee you 100% that they are solid wood with wood veneers. Yeah sure the bodies maybe made of more pieces than my Gibbie's, but these days even Gibby is using multiple pieces for their bodies.

You are doing no one a service with your ill informed rants, you are however showing your true colours.

Please stop posting in the Epi forum and to find some other cork sniffers to hang out with.

Have a nice day, Johnny

Ok,

call this Veneer or decorative covering wood if you prefer .

Still on this forum, and not poking your unwanted nose on the SG forum? Again?? As GIBSG?

Simple truth. You're an unwanted pimple on the butt of genuine Epiphone fans.

Ok,

Simple fact, you want to hate Epiphones as they are not Gibson made with love in the USA,

Epiphone is owned by Gibson US? It is their company! All profits go to Gibson, so you are deriding Gibson as a company.

In fact by this tyrade you are actually encouraging people to go to other guitar company's outside the Gibson product range?

Some loyal Gibson fan you are?

In here, we appreciate Epiphones. A Gibson brand!! If you really want to sell your Gibson v Epiphone views, go to a strat forum.

Personally, I'm getting sick of your tirade about your G'peen.

In a nutshell, "Don't like Epi's, F^$) )ff to another forum.

My Gibson Les Paul Junior is fantastic, my Gibson SG Special is incredible [thumbup]

But I don' t like copies.

I own an Epi Casino and that' s a great guitar ... for the price . I own a G400, a V copy (Popa Chubby) and sold them very quickly .

Only a Gibson is good Enough IMHO !

[tongue]

PS : I paid 400 for the Gibson Les Paul and 450 for the Gibson SG Special .

Yeah we get that you're a Gibson fanboy, but what people are trying to get through to you is that this is an Epiphone forum, a forum dedicated to Epiphones. If they aren't good enough for you then bugger off to a froum dedicated to people who wish to deride Epiphones. We won't be there so won't have to suffer your foaming at the mouth, brainwashed 'Only a Gibson is good enough IMHO' attitude. As a side note I always find it funny when people use IMHO and they inevitably have no humility in them.

It is good that you love Gibsons so much and yes, by and large they are great guitars, but I can't own one as I have an allergic reaction to the Nitro coating that causes me to have migraines. And before you start sh!tting on about a Gibson being the cure for cancer and the answer to all problems in the universe, it was the Gibson causing the issue. I still wanted a Les Paul, so I could have spent money on a PRS lookalike or buy an Epiphone, which is a Les Paul. Need;less to say I now own an Epi Les Paul Traditional Pro and it is fantastic. Yes older Epis do suffer a bit from the quality factor, but then so do Gibsons, Fenders, Gretsches, Jacksons, Ibanezes... You seem to forget that the Epi Les Paul isn't a copy, it is a Les Paul, otherwise Gibson wouldn't allow the use of the Les Paul logo on the headstock would they? And I will reiterate what has previously been said, Epiphone are a subsidiary of Gibson. The money I spent will go towards Gibsons end of year profits.

Also you denegrate the pots in an Epi, and yes they are Chinese made, but so are the electronics in a Gibson. And again, you will get bad ones, and you will get good ones. It's just the luck of the draw. So please let that be an end to your nonsense. You are about as welcome here as a pinata full of spiders.

Try a recent Epiphone.

Me personally, I don't mind you coming on here and ripping on Epiphones. I have the LP I want, it's not a Gibson, and it's incredible. Knock yourself out.

But what's with the fixation? I'm honestly curious.

SG: you don't give up, do you ;)

An Epiphone Les Paul is a real Les Paul. Just not a Gibson Les Paul. But it's a Les Paul. That's why they get to call it a Les Paul.

Honestly, dude: if you don't like Epiphones, why spend time on the Epiphone forums (as you no doubt know, they're mere copies of the Gibson forums, after all)...? I'm not pissed, I just can't help but wonder what you get out of it.

He posts here because they are all bored to tears with the pics of his cream SG that he posts in the SG forum over and over and over again. Pretty sure this is the only excitement in his life.

Johnny: I did a post search (got curious).

That's a lot of pictures unrelated to subject matters :P

I give up.

LOL I'm afraid you're right, I usually just ignore him, but I was especially grumpy the other day and had just had enough. All in all the forum is wonderful place on both sides of the fence full of wonderful people.

Back to ignore mode.

Pay no attention to the troll. He doesn't even know how to change strings. I couldn't help but notice that his work bench is far superior and well crafted compared to the cheap copy Epiphone work benches though...

Hello, I need help to install strings on my Junior. I think installing A and B strings to setup intonation first, what do you think? Thanks
