Firebird original designs

I wonder why Gibson does not make the Firebird today with the tremlo arms like they did back in the 60's. They even had 2 different styles of tremlos back then. Now I am talking about the Vintage Sunburst finish guitars.

A lot of people prefer a hard tail

Yes.

In the mid-70's I bought a 1964 Firebird III, which had the short Maestro. I eventually removed the Maestro and strung it through the wrap-around bridge. I preferred this configuration. I will say the long cover on the original Firebird V's and VII's sure did add a lot of bling, so...

What I think would be the best of both worlds would be to add the "Derek Trucks" SG style ornamental only tailpiece cover with the stopbar/ABR bridge combo on the V's and VII's.
