Hello!

My Revolution Casino needs a new neck thanks to a break right at the headstock. From what I understand, since the neck is set in at the factory it may not be replaceable. Would be great if someone could help me with a solution to get this baby back on the road with me! Please email me at info@british-mania.com and I'll get you some pics.

Thanks,

Jon

Hello Jon,

You don't need a new neck, you just need to get the break repaired. Head stock breaks on guitars with necks like Gibson and Epiphone guitars are not uncommon. The right glue job done by the right repair tech, and it will play just as well as it ever has. If you can find a really good repair guy, they can sometimes even take care of the some of the cosmetics while they are at it.

in the USA, such a repair would be in the $150 to $250 range depending on how much work was required.

Sucks when this happens, good luck!

Agreed. It's a glued-in neck too, isn't it? It'd probably be a bigger job getting the old one off and the new one on.

Half the planet says a repaired headstock crack gets stronger than ever. I've no idea if that's true (plus, how would you measure it?), but I've never heard of a professionally repaired headstock crack coming undone or anything like that. A good luthier, and you'll be fine!

Don't do it yourself, unless you're a pro. AFAIK, you need to break it off altogether before the glue, and unless you know what you're doing... IMHO, of course, deeman.

I probably got lucky. I was in college, in a band with steady gigs, and broke. The neck completely broke off at the body so I got some wood glue clamped it up and hoped for the best. In my case it was good as new. I didn't even need a set up.

Nowadays I take my guitar to the pros, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
