Help ID les paul, no serial

Hi, would appreciate any help in identifying the following guitar. It was bought in 1990 and at that time it looked 20 or so years old. In 2014 the headstock/neck snapped. Any ideas of what this could be? No serials anywhere including pots.

The bolt-on neck tells us that it is either:

 

a. A cheap Les Paul copy (an Aria or Del Toro or some other such brand) that somebody applied a Gibson logo to years ago

 

or

 

b. A genuine Gibson Invader that somebody dressed up to appear more like a Les Paul.

 

My gut tells me that it is a., a cheap copy.

I'm going to agree with Sparky here, that isn't a Gibson or even an Epi, but some other budget clone.
