Hustler
No doubt this has been asked before but... I have 3 'birds, stock pups are a little too gainy for my tastes. Looking at either Lollars or Mojotone Johnny Winters as a replacement. I play clean/barely breaking up through a Bluesbreaker (or class 5 depending on the gig). I want something low output that's sings and sustains clean with a nice even balance between neck and bridge. I have a straight up '50's rock 'n' roll gig at the moment and a late '60's Blues Rock thing going as a sideline. Has anybody compared both pups and can they recommend one over the other? Lollar have the rep but the Mojotone JW demo sure sounds sweet.
Rick
I went for SD's Antiquities II Firebird. Huge improvement to the tone, now it's really vintage-sounding, airy and not compressed, very touch responsive and harmonically complex.
Karloff
I wound up going with The Creamery pickups. Alnico 2. Like em.
Radiorocker
I installed a DiMarzio in the bridge position of my 2014 Firebird V. Sounds killer. :-)
