It sounded very nice as well. Of course Joe could play a barn door and it would sound good. Not quite as good as Tom Waits playing the same barn door, but close. In other words, yeah, I want one. This looks like a very nice axe and yeah, Joe makes it sing. What it does show though is that Epiphone has developed a nice guitar that sounds just as beautiful as the originals and has all the tones available if you learn how to pull them out. gibsonnutt Posted February 9, 2017 Share Posted February 9, 2017 got this guitar yesterday...never owned a epiphone before this guitar..always owned gibson and fender guitars..i have to say this is a fine looking playing guitar..no flaws on this guitar...hats off to epiphone they nailed this one I'm impressed...the sound is great.i will buy a hard case for it gigbag won't give much support to headstock with the large tuners.i can say if your thinking about buying one of these you won't be sorry..i bought the vintage sunburst one ..it came with a 45 day return...it will not be going back love this guitar!!!! 5 stars epiphone.. Glad to read your post makes me feel good about getting one. you won't be sorry....i played the gibson liked it also..glad i bought this one instead,these have the vibe. i adjusted the pickup height..i lowered it..just fine tune to your liking..set my tone knob to 4.5 -5...i would get a hardcase for it..gig bag won't protect the headstock....guitar comes with 10-46 on it...i bought the gibson trussrod cover for it now i feel better..the build and look is as good as the gibson....i just like this on better... Megafrog Posted February 12, 2017 Share Posted February 12, 2017 I guess I don't understand the appeal of this Firebird. I got a new 2016 Gibson for $899 and this is a hundred dollars less. The tuners are probably better on this than the Gibson but what about the rest of it? Why get this over the Gibson? That looks nice. I will say this about the Gibson, 2016 didn't seem like a good year for the Firebirds. The first one I got from Sam Ash was horrible and the second one is decent.
