Les Paul pickups for a Casino

If you want the looks of a 16" double cutaway and the sound of a Les Paul, you'd do much better with a Dot, Riviera or Sheraton with full-size humbuckers. The Casino, being fully hollow, will never have the kind of sustain or tone of a Les Paul no matter what pickups are in it.

On the other hand, any of the semi-hollow models can get pretty close.

Owning both a Dot and Casino, I'd tend to agree.

Unfortunately, I already have the Casino and can't (yet) justify a 3rd guitar. I bought the Casino because I'm mostly playing un-amped while watching TV and an un-amped Les Paul doesn't sound so good. But... when I do plug in, I'm not a fan of the Casino's sound and wanted to get a sound closer to the Les Paul without having to go and get the Les Paul (it's in a different room - yes, I'm lazy).

Wow.

Casino pickups are different sizes than even Gibson P90s so whatever you switch them with you will have to cut up the guitar and re-route for the new pickups unless you replace the stock pickups with P90s that are specifically made for Casinos like Kent Armstrong Casino pickups. I have humbucker size Kent Armstrong P90s in one of my guitars and they sound great.

I have a hard time imagining a bad sounding Casino.

I have a hard time imagining someone attempting to make a guitar sound like a different guitar, one that it can't sound like, instead of just going down the hall and getting the one with the sound they want.
