Headstock inlays in newer SGS

I have seen a couple of SGs recently both standards and reissues, and something caught my eye,

If I look at a certain angle, I can see a "halo" surrounding the "gibson" letters, though very very thin and almost invisible.

Are these inlays in modern guitars some kind of sticker under the finish like in Fenders or is it an actual mother of pearl inlay?

Not stickers. . AKAIK - the thin MOP is inlaid into the thin headstock overlay in a separate process. The completed overlay is then glued onto the headstock. Eventually the finish is applied to the whole guitar.

I'm not sure what you're seeing but it must be reflected light coming back up from the inlays and spread out through the layers of finish on top of the headstock overlay. As the guitar ages over the years, sometimes an area around the inlays develops a bit of finish delamination (due to the differing materials expanding and contracting at different rates) which can look like a halo.
