flatbaroque
Sacre bleu! Wouldn't be my preference. But not bad looking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU5L7oMLOQM
jvi
j 45 is a round shoulder guitar - non cutaway imo
mountainpicker
When it comes to a cutaway on a J-45 let me practice the second language of our newly elected orange man: Nyet!
j45nick
Sacrilege! Call an exorcist. (Where is Ren when we need him?) Build it if you must, but don't call it a J-45.

olie
It immediately becomes a hybrid- but certainly not a J-45. Some things are sacred.
Buc McMaster
Yep.......pretty silly. Players drawn to the iconic look of a J-45 are generally not the type that play above the 7th fret anyway. What is the point? What is Gibson thinking?

OldCowboy
It would have to be able to mow my lawn, shovel snow in the winter, wash my truck, take out the trash, go places and make apologies for me choosing not to attend, run lots of errands, and come at a pretty damn cheap price. Then, if it sounded really good and played like a dream, I might think about it.

MorrisrownSal
Wow. I'm the lone idiot. I play up high often when we gig. I'd much rather play this than my Taylor 214ce.
mz-s
Looks nice to me, though I can understand the trepidation with calling it a J-45 to some extent.
jannusguy2
Don't care for the guitar but love Greg's demo!! He always cracks me up!
62burst
Maybe something like this would make it alright? . . . and yes, Greg's playing is a fine distraction from any offense to one's aesthetic sensitivities. Did sound thin when he first started playing, 'til he got up on plane.
Dave F
Perhaps they should call it a J-45 Pro
flatbaroque
Perhaps they should call it a J-45 Pro Or a J-42.5 . Have to agree with Jannus.I always enjoy Greg K's demos- humor and chops. His talk of "schweedling" on the upper frets made me smile.
theflyingturtle
While it adds access to the upper frets it does so at the expense of looks and character. If you've always wanted a J-45 but really like cut away bodies then more power to you and Gibson. A regular ol' Gibson is good enough for me. BigKahune
. After a dozens of different versions of the J-45, folks finally get indignant over a cutaway slope? . Hmmm . . . . Martin has cutaway versions of just about every model, including the 28. Gibson has offered cutaways on some dred models (Songwriter, H'bird Pro, some HP models, etc) and the orchestral shapes 200 & 185, but is way late to the party with a slope cutaway. I'd say it's about time. Now there's a coupla slope cutaways - the J-45 and the HP-415. Can't wait for the new guy to put out a cutaway version of the H'bird - there'll probably be riot and burning in effigy. . B) .
