Texsunburst59
I frequent pawnshop religiously and usually find AMAZING deals on guitars at least 2-3 times a year. This is my 1st score of 2017. I wasn't aware these were ever produced and never saw one in person until yesterday. I had never seen an SG with a 6-way rotary switch before. Anyway I got a REALLY good deal on this one. About a 1/3 of the going used rate. Anyone on this forum own one of these?
Versatile
Hi Tex.... I have one....bought in the UK when they were a 'Guitar of the Week' promotion Attractive by being very cheap for a US Gibson with hard case.... 'Rail' pickups though, were awful and microphonic....IMO unusable Nicely built otherwise and well finished My regular tech fitted 3 Seymour Duncan Strat pickups which rendered the guitar quite toneful and unusual V PS Just looked at your main pic and now realise it is a completely different guitar....although mine was toted as an SG 3.... BigKahune
. Very nice get. Congrats. . B) My cousin bought that model new (in cherry) and owned it for a few years. I played it a few times. Really nice SG with quite the switching.

Riffster
Great looking guitar, I have never seen a serial number in that format.
Texsunburst59
Great looking guitar, I have never seen a serial number in that format. I'd NEVER seen that either. I've seen a lot of serial numbers on Gibson's, but never that. When I saw the guitar I wasn't sure what it was. I asked the sales guy what it was and what year. He said he didn't know and other guys that had seen it thought it was a fake. They were asking $1500 for it and I asked if they'd go take less for it. He said make an offer. I said let me go to my car to check something. I a few minutes I found it on my smart phone. I went back in and pointed out all the flaws on the guitar and told them I'd let them cash out on it. I said you guys don't know what it is or if it's real. Let me take the chance and let you get out from under it. The said they'd take $600 + tax. I said for that I'd take it. tom brown
Greetings In the year 2007 they made 400 red of those guitars and 400 black . The one I have doesn't have a consecutive low number so it was either one of the first ones or last ones ? I do have a thread titled Gibson SG 3 and Gibson SG custom if you would like to take a look and post more photos. I think there are one of the best guitars that Gibson has made because of the 6 way switch and besides that the 57 classic really cranks on this guitar. If you google gibson sg 3 there is a old video that does a demo and there are old ads also but, my selector switch does not operate the same as it lists in the ads. Congratulations on a great deal , these sg's have gone up in value as have the "57" pickups. The pickups list at 165.00 each at the gibson store but they are worth it in my opinion. Regards Tom Thanks Tom. This guitar is really tonally different from all my other guitars. The '57's sound amazing and can be dialed in for so much detail and clarity. I didn't realize the '57's were $165 a piece. WOW!! I paid $600 + tax for this guitar, so I guess it was a pretty good deal. I believe that the 6 way rotary switch is what makes this guitar so amazing. The switch allows so many killer tones that it makes this guitar a very good gigging guitar.
