flatbaroque
I think there has been something here on these Sigma Gibson copies before. There's a few models. Here's a J-200. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SIGMA-Guitar-GJA-SG200-Fishman-Soniton-TA-SIGMA-GUITARS-JUMBO-FORM-A1-Top/291980940788?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D39923%26meid%3D1a89084c2418417ab08a41ce8e7723e7%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D291999963960 I know Sigma used to have some "arrangement?" with Martin.Do they have something with Gibson? Or they can just copy?
kidblast
I think it's that the copy infringements stop at the head stock, and this one looks nothing like a gibson headstock
Mojorule
I've been investigating these ones too over the past couple of weeks. One review suggested that Sigma's Martin connection ended some time ago. No Gibson deal that I can see: I've also noticed this Epiphone for the first time recently, which I imagine is in direct competition with the Sigma, so I can't imagine that Gibson would be keen to endorse another Asian cheapie. Both these models have caught my eye as potential future beaters: other Gibson-inspired slope shoulders I've seen have all been long-scale and mahogany b&s, so neither J45 nor AJ copies. These ones at least have the scale length and wood combination I like. The Epiphone is all solid too... Once borrowed a Sigma OOO or OM for a wedding gig in the '90s. It was great: much better than my then old Lyon dread. I wonder if the new ones are that good.
