Epiphone 'Gibson' SG Model?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to find out what my Epiphone SG model number is & how old it is. It has serial number SJ04038551, 'Gibson' on the neck rod adjust cover plate on the headstock, others I have seen have SG. I know it's not an expensive guitar, body appears to be plywood, but it plays & sounds really good to me. Any help much appreciated.

Hi. I have trouble finding the model out of the epiphone sg I bought second hand. Could anyone help. SN 09021502371

The SN will not tell you what kind of SG it is but, basically,

if it has a bolt-on neck with 2 pickups its a G-310 (sometimes labeled a Special),

if it has a bolt-on neck with 1 pickup Its an G-310 Junior,

if it has set-neck with 2 pickups its a higher end G-400..

Your pics show a G-310, note that there are several model variations..
