Retired
Sorry, not my cup of tea. Personally, when I see stuff like this it just makes me cherish the talent of the 60's and 70's more. Some 80's. Just my opinion.
ChanMan
I liked it :) I'd buy her metal album!
Searcy
This first time I have been interested in Metallica since 1988. Gaga is a quintessential performer. An amazing and limitless talent.
kidblast
I read that Hetfield was pretty upset with the "equipment failure"... and maybe a bit po'd that the person that they had announce "Lada Gaga" never mentioned Metallica.. "Wupsy!"

"Wupsy!" Yea, this video was edited to put James vocal back into the mix. At the actual show his mic was dead. Some sound man got fired that night. Versatile
Lady G-G has rightly been lauded for bringing back a fearless originality to popular music and performance....when so much formulaic pap has been shoved at the public.... When revered artists like Tony Bennett are pleased to share a duet with her.....people tend to take notice..... Perhaps a collaboration with Metallica is no bad thing.....in their own genre they are highly regarded (love the drumming)..... Lady G-G can sing jazz standards and do heavy metal.... 'Versatile' is the word..... V
Searcy
She shares something with Dave Grohl that I really love which is a true, honest love of music. The two of them prove that great music and great musicians are still around. This might be fun for some. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNow_5yzwL0
saturn
Around 1:02 it looks like those square lights up above them read PCP. More subliminal attempts by devil worshiping heavy metal bands to subvert our children?
rct
It was a good show overall, lots of pretty good performances by some pretty major pop artists, if you like that stuff. Lots of pretty guitars and basses and keyboards, so a porn show for the most part. Lars proved that old guys hit the drums like nobody's business. We prayed for the venue peoples that were about to lose their jobs, but Lars said that it was actually a performer that kicked Hetfield's cable out of the snakeAHHHH. rct
jdgm
She can sing sure enough....but I've never understood thrash(-y) heavy metal with vocal harmonies..... #-o All the drummers I know say Lars isn't that good......though he and his band have been top of the heap for near 3 decades now.... Is the song any good?
Big Bill
Gaga is a quintessential performer. An amazing and limitless talent. I would hit it in a New York minute, unfortunately that is about as long as I would last.
rct
BTW all the drummers I know say Lars isn't that good...... Tell all the drummers you know to start keeping time and lay off the cymbal splashes. They could also quit the rolls between 3 AND and 1. Understanding contrapuntal rhythm will make all kinds of players happy. I suggest Barracuda by Heart as a good first lesson on less is more, progressing up through most of what Alex Van Halen does, and with a sprinkle of Lars for delicious ups when the body swears it wants a down. If'n I was afforded the opportunity to put a band together with anyone I chose, I doubt I'd walk past Lars for any drummer you or I know. And I don't even like Metallica, I have played Sandman a few times, but I know very little of their material. rct

trblake
I appreciate Metallica & Lady GaGa, though heavy metal isn't my thing. I liked her album with Tony Bennett quite a bit. Tony's guitar player, Gary Sargent, is amazing, if you haven't heard it.

Pinch
I dunno what to think. If they'd lost the backup "dancers", it could've been cool. And if they hadn't unplugged Hetfield's mic. And if they'd only made the replica of Stonehenge the correct size. And if she's a "metal chick at heart" - and I understand she really is - then maybe she should record some metal music. Ulrich has been quoted saying they intend to collaborate further. In what capacity, I don't know. I DO know they could use a new lead guitarist ;)
cody78
I don't know. I DO know they could use a new lead guitarist ;) Too many people say Kirk sucks and Lars sucks They both serve their purpose and I enjoy their playing. Listen to 'Disposable Heroes' and tell me that is not a great, well thought out solo for that song. I know a guy who is always bashing Kirk, yet he himself can't play the leads to 'Master of Puppets'...makes me wonder about all the other critics! Is Kirk my favourite player? Nope, but I'd rather listen to him than some boring indie band who can barely play at all!
Searcy
I always listen to the internet when it tells me a guy getting paid millions to play the guitar or play the drums "sucks". Oh wait... no I don't. I trust my ears.

Mojorule
The bottom line is you like or you don't. Lady (if that is what she is) Ga Ga does nothing for me. Her music is not what I listen to and I have not given a rip about Metallica since Justice. If I am going to listen to Metal that is put out in recent years I like Tool and Mastodon. If you liked Metallica and Ga Ga great and if you didn't great. I could not name one Ga Ga song if you held a gun to my head, but I probably could name 3 Metallica songs, maybe 4. Better than Metallica and Lou Reed.
Riffster
I like both but I did not find the performance particularly electrifying, probably if I was there live I would have gotten chills but I would have been confused about James missing vocals. This is the first time I see the "corrected" version. I do not listen to GaGa because it is not my style but I can recognize her talent, well, it is very evident. Seb1968
OH DEAR, OH DEAR, Ohhh deeeearrrr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbDS_tMdMis I can't say, I am fan of Lady GaGa's pop stuff, but I think she makes a good rock singer.
Seb1968
I was looking at her cleavage. Same here, and she looked hot in those ripped jeans, I may not be a fan of her music, but she is one great piece of arse.
Rabs
I can't say, I am fan of Lady GaGa's pop stuff, but I think she makes a good rock singer. Id just like to say... I have no problem with Lady Ga Ga.... I think shes pretty cool in the way that she does the things she wants and as an artist.... even though I don't really like most of her music.... but theres no denying her talent. My issue is more with Metallica... When I hear them live these days I really don't like their sound (or their new music for that matter)... Now ive seen them like five times live but that was many years ago... And back then I think the sounded great.. I cant quite put my finger on it but its like their sound has become really thin... Its almost more like they are just caricatures of their former selves (kind of like Arnie or Van Damme)... And I cant help but wonder what a 25 or 30 year or Lars would say to his older self if he ever saw this video (of the band who apparently would never ever record a music video ).
