brc
My older brother just started playing guitar about a year ago. I have been helping him picking out new ( or used ) guitars to buy and so far he has a pretty good selection now to choose from when he wants to practice, or just to pass some time. About two weeks ago he asked me if I would build him a " Partscaster " I told him I would look through my parts bins and see what I could come up with. What he does not know is, I found enough parts to build him three Strat type guitars, and one Telecaster. So far I have two of the Stratocaster type guitars completed. , third one is painted, ready for assembly, and the Telecaster style is waiting on a part . Luckily the only parts I had to order were two sets of string tees, and one case. Did not know I had enough to parts to build four guitars , minus some string tees and a case. He loves metal flake paint so I painted two of the Stratocaster style in a metal flake. One is gold metal flake, one silver metal flake, the third is the 60s style sea foam green. After I get them all assembled , I will take a picture and post it. Maybe he will let me take a picture with him and his new partscasters.

brc
Hi Jorge, How have you been? How is the new little doing? Is your gray guitar holding up ok ? I don't think I saw a picture of your "V" guitar after you assembled it. Did you post a picture of it On the four I am putting together for my brother , one of them is going to very unique. I have never seen one like this one, and it would be difficult to explain what I am doing to it, but it will be very unique. My brother was like a kid in a candy store when I showed him the gold metal flake guitar and " had" to take it home the same day he saw it, not knowing I had three more that I was working on for him. The plan was to give him all four guitars at once, but did not work out that way. He will have to bring it back to me so I could take a picture of all four guitars at once. Riffster
I am good but the girls are sick, there is something going around that seems to affect children. This is the V, it has a satin finish but I plan to give a coat of gloss nitro this year.

Do you know what type of wood that is ? Is the body weight comparable to a Les Paul? Really sorry to hear about your family being sick. Especially the little ones. Hope they all get to feeling better soon.

Thanks bill, it is all mahogany and in this particular case ebony fretboard. This one is a bit lighter than a Les Paul since there is no maple cap its weight is 7 pounds 8 ounces, I have another V that is lighter, that one si right under 7 pounds. Marky Forrest
That's so cool. You are a great brother. Are all these going to be surprises?
brc
That's so cool. You are a great brother. Are all these going to be surprises? The idea was for all of them to be a surprise, but he walked into my shop one day while I was buffing out one of the guitars, and I had another guitar on the rack drying. So he does know about two of them, he has an idea of the third one, ( but not sure who it's for ) but the fourth one he is totally unaware. I wanted to take all four to him at one time, but that idea fell through when he walked into my shop.

Hi Jorge, I remember it now . That was a silver color that I mixed up on in my shop. I remember how you added the stars to the pick guard. Looks like it's holding up pretty welll. When you are ready to add the gloss coat to your "V" let me know . I will send you some information on a great gloss top coat product that is crystal clear , easy to use, and just about indestructible . It's perfect for solid body guitars. brc
This is the first of the four Partscasters I am putting together for my brother I " had" to take it home before I had the headstock decals printed. Once I get the time to finish the other three ( almost ready) I will post all four Partscasters at one time.

brc
Thanks Jorge He liked it so much he could not wait for me to put the headstock decals on There is another metal flake guitar, but but it done is silver. That one and the Telecaster are assembled, but waiting on the headstock decals. I will probably catch some flack on the silver one after I post the pictures of it, but I think it's kind of cool. The sea foam green guitar is giving me some trouble, but it will be completed in a couple of days
