Greetings all. Does anyone know where I can get a turtle-shell pick guard for my ES 355? ...or a suggestion for a replacement. The current one broke into pieces after years of service.

As the 355 was not a very popular model made in quantities of a gazillion (like the 335), I know of no off-the-shelf replacement pickguards.

There is a tortoise replacement guard for the 335, but it is going to have a beveled laminated edge finish, not bound.

I would look into a bound tortoise L-5C guard, and see if the profile will fit. You would then need to have the pickup notches cutout.

There are a couple custom pickguard makers that have been recommended by members here that have the patterns to make many popular shapes, but the kicker is the binding. To make a bound pickguard is a whole different ballgame.

I just had one made for my Midtown Standard. It was made by Mike Quick: http://www.quickguar...ex.php?about_us

Mike does excellent work. It is exactly like the original, including the correct 5 ply material.

I think it's a one ply tort with 5 ply binding edged pickguard.

Yeah, would be nice to source one. I saw a luthier make one on YT ... edge binding held with together with pins while gluing. It would cost a pretty penny $$$.

There a place called Pickguardian, they do everything. I spoke to a guy named Tony he seemed knowledgable enough, I think thats a good bet.https://youtu.be/FY1ymQTSJCE

Do you want a short or long pickguard. I think the 335 and 355 are the same specs. The 355 just has a Varitone switch, Stereo out, and I think fancier neck inlays.
