merciful-evans
It may be I have not been keeping up lately, but I was surprised to find cheaper Gibsons at stores close to me a good deal less than I anticipated. SG Fusion at £449 and LP & SG Faded at £549. SG Special and LP Tribute at £599. Even SG Standards at £899. These are pretty much all 2017 T models. Got to encourage some sales surely. Rabs
Did you see this thread in the LP section? http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/136762-import-from-uk-to-usa/ A guy from the US found cheaper reissue models in the UK than in the US.. Weird... Even though I think (am not 100% sure) that this is because of a failed experiment by Andertons who got some custom models made specially for them and it seems no one was that interested? (so they are a good price at the mo for anyone wanting a re-issue type model).
merciful-evans
Yes I saw that. ANn yes Andertons is my prime source, but I noticed that PMT and GuitarGuitar also had some of those prices. Weve been jealous of the American cheaper prices for so long (due to uk VAT mostly) it comes as a bit of a shock!
Tman
I remembered this thread when I was looking for a 12 string acoustic this past weekend. I found a limited edition hummingbird (40 made) at Peaches in the UK for more than a thousand US dollars less then any available in the US (yes I did the conversion from pounds). I figured it was because the Sterling took a hit after Brexit. The prices are indeed good now in the UK. They also had very decent shipping prices to the US so I grabbed it. Got an email today telling me that because it has a rosewood neck that they have to apply for an export license to ship it back to the US. THEN, after 3 weeks to 1 month, I'll have to file for a permit to import it here with the US customs agency. I need it 3 weeks from now. Damn, disappointing to say the least. It seems silly and indiscriminately targeted as its just 'coming home' again.
Tman
CITES strikes. It seems silly and indiscriminately targeted as its just 'coming home' again. I'm typically not a conspiracy sort of guy but it seems that it is a way for American Game and fish commission to make some money. I looked on their site and they charge $100 nonrefundable processing fee just to consider it. Infuriating.
merciful-evans
Woodbrass have some attractive 'selected' prices too, such as this ES-335 ltd edition 70 Walnut for well under 2k (among others). walnut 70 es 335 Woodbrass are are French of course. The problem is they have an appalling reputation. I just wouldnt risk it.
LarryUK
http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/electric_guitars_detail.asp?stock=PX170409309724004 I've just seen this. It looks a good price. A question. The aluminium cases that come with new Les Paul's. What are they worth? I've seen a new one I like the look of, but I dont like those cases. What would it sell for? A HP too. I'd been looking at this http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/electric_guitars_detail.asp?stock=170125306707008, but I could get the HP and put a Bigsby on it for less
