Hey everyone, I bought a pair of used STR8-150s a while back. I've normally been lucky with eBay purchases but these decks have come with problems. I've fixed the issue of one deck only playing in mono, and also had the line/phono switch fixed on one, but the one deck has an output issue.
The sound from one TT is really distorted. It's not the mixer ( I've tried the problematic deck on different channels with the same problem, and the other TT works just fine through the other channels ) it's not the cables or the carts or needles as these have been replaced with brand new and professionally fitted, balanced etc and are the same on both. So there's a very definite problem with just the one TT. The sound is coming out in stereo, it's not mono. It's just distorted. Definitely more noticeable on the low Bass notes and kick drum ( I'm playing a lot of hip hop and funk so it's very noticeable. ) seems a lot more prominent when I kick up the volume and when cueing up in the cans. My local store said that they're struggling to see it being a lose connection as they would cause output in mono or no output at all. The TT is definitely connected to the mixer correctly ( phono to phono or line to line etc ) so it's not that either.
Anyone else had a similar problem or have any ideas what the problem is? Thanks.
