MichaelDH
I believe, but not totally sure, that the open book head stocks were made around 1988-89.

charlie brown
Those "Epiphone Japan" models, with the Gibson "Open Book" head stock, were for the "Japanese Only" market, and not designed to be (officially) exported. So, they were licensed, by Gibson, to use that head-stock design, for only that market. But, of course, with Internet sellers, and folks that travel to Japan, they were bound to show up, elsewhere. Great Guitars, too! With original "Kalamazoo" spec's, save the "Epiphone" instead of "Gibson" inlay. Enjoy your Les Paul "Goldtop!" CB
