Hi guys, i haven't been on the site for a while, i had surgery on my hand late last year so been off the guitars, but my finger has healed well so I've got back on my guitar most days again !!

Today i went to the local guitar store as there was a guitar i lusted after, i didn't need it but it was very good looking guitar and i tried convincing myself i had to have it. The model i wanted was an OM model Sigma, the omrc-1ste-sb i know the OM orchestra model has the same body as the 000 but with a neck made for finger picking, and as I'm practicing that style of guitar more recently i thought it would be a good option for me.

However once i tried it i found it too much of a stretch to the neck to play and my forearm was in pain playing open chords i didn't enjoy it, once i got home i practiced the same rendition of stairway to heaven as I've been playing and found it comfortable with my only criticism being whether or not i could get away with thinner strings for that style of playing. On the sigma and epiphone websites they both claim a 25.5" scale so I'm not sure why i struggled so much with the Sigma.

Your thoughts ??

OM style is going to be thinner and shorter then the dreadnought DR so the neck is going to be in a different position relative to your body and arms even though the scale length is the same. You didn't mention if you were sitting or standing, but sitting will give you fewer options for making adjustments to how you hold the guitar.
