merciful-evans
Last nights broadcast of the BBC Proms was terrific. It featured the music of Charles Mingus. So a lot of young jazz players augmented the chamber ensemble. I was surprised to see the intro to 'Goodbye Pork Pie Hat' played on a Gretch hollowbody. http://www.bbc.co.uk/events/ed56q9
jdgm
Wish I'd known. Ralph Towner does a lovely version on 12-string:

Thank you :) The first inroad to Mingus for me was through Davy Graham That album is very eclectic. With his own take on Morrocan music, Jazz from Arr Blakey (Moanin) and Mingus. cody78
Thanks for posting, I must watch these at some point along with the Glass/ Shankar stuff Rabs mentioned. Regarding Mingus, if you haven't heard The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady you must. I would say it's in my top 5 favourite jazz records of all time (if not the finest). Absolutely incredible album, though I do love many of his others.
