fortyearspickn
I had heard about this Saturday. Nothing on the national news, although they report several times a day on the much smaller fires, like the one in Los Angeles.
blindboygrunt
If there is a God he has a wicked sense of humour Could he not have used some of the Texas rain to sort that out ?
fortyearspickn
If there is a God he has a wicked sense of humour Could he not have used some of the Texas rain to sort that out ? More irony - the places in Texas bordering on drought conditions didn't get more than 1/2" and the areas that get rain all the time - got the 50". zombywoof
In all seriousness, my thought are especially with my brothers and sisters with the NPS who are red carded. Lest we forget.

drathbun
British Columbia, Canada has been on fire since April. We've been getting heavy smoke for weeks here in Calgary. So far this year, in BC, there have been 1,176 fires since April, which have burned a whopping total of 1,080,941 hectares of the province, according to statistics from the B.C. Wildfire Service website. This year's amount has already surpassed the historical record from 1958 when a total of 856,000 hectares were burnt. (Records have been kept since 1912.) To put that in perspective, the average amount from the past 10 years of records (2005 to 2016) has been approximately 155,000 hectares burnt. That means this year's amount so far represents an almost 600 percent increase.
Hogeye
It's very difficult to get any news coverage so no one really knows what is going on up here. No disrespect to L.A. and their campfire or Texas and their real disaster. Stay strong Texas we are praying for you. Montana can only hope to protect homes and buildings at this point but you should know that this happens almost every year and it has been going on as long as I can remember. We just try to get along as best we can and know that one thing is certain. The fires go out when it snows. We will suffer thru the bad air for another month and then we will get snow in the high mountains and life will be fine again. We do fear for our smoke jumpers and fire fighters. Our Native American fire fighters are the best in the world and we have them scattered all over the West right now but if it gets to bad we will bring them back. If you want to get a fire put out call in the Montana Hotshots. Our fires are a natural thing and they are just doing what mother nature needs them to do. They will end up revitalizing our vast forests and we will be better for it. We just need to keep our cattle, horses, and people safe. Thank you for the prayers. We can use all the help we can get. rct
Glacier lost a hotel this weekend. We've been there in the smoke. The people of West Yellowstone tirelessly in and out fighting some fire somewhere. Having had a few trips during fires we can say we aren't too sad we didn't go this year. rct
Hogeye
Hogeye and all the others there: will keep you in our prayers and hope relief comes your way soon. Stay safe. Thanks Gary we really appreciate your thoughts and prayers. We are so remote and isolated from the main stream sometimes we forget that people remember us. Glacier Park is really getting hit right now. The old hotel burned but we will just pick ourselves up, dust off our jeans and rebuild it. Yellowstone burned in '88 and '17 Glacier is on fire. We rebuilt Yellowstone and we will rebuild Glacier so... Get ready to deal with the next hurricane.

I have been practicing for the last two weeks and thought maybe we could pick a few cowboy songs in the back yard. We won't need to build a campfire. There is plenty of that going on around us. I have the '55 Plymouth running and the '56 Buick is ready for a spin as well. ????
bassetman
Here in eastern Washington we have had wild fires come right into town. So smokey I can barely make out houses across the street. Thanks to all the wild land and other fire crews and support.
Mickthemiller
If there is a God he has a wicked sense of humour Could he not have used some of the Texas rain to sort that out ? There probably isn't, so prayers nor blame will count one jot, imho!
