Ticking noise in amps

I am experiencing a nightmare: I have a ticking noise in all my amps,

it ticks with a frequency like a clock ticking away seconds.

It is extremely pronounced when I use guitars with P-90s.

With humbuckers it is hardly to be noticed.

I tried everything :

Turned computer off, Internet router off, all lights off,

TV off, etc.

This is driving me nuts.

Anyone got an idea?

When did it start and what electrical or electronic devices are new since it started?

I noticed it a few days ago, no new devices had been added.

I even took my little Blues Jr. (which I hardly use) to another room (no pedals attached)

and got the same noise there.

This might be silly but are you wearing a watch? I've chased a ticking (only for a few minutes) before and realised the pups were picking up my second hand.

Do you use power conditioning?

No, no air conditioning

I think he meant a conditioned power supply [biggrin] I would suggest trying one. It regulates the voltage from you wall and can sort out certain interference. An electrician could explain it better than I probably, but I use one for my tube amps at home.

Does it not sound so bad when there's nothing plugged in, and then is it worse when you plug in just a cable into the amp, with no guitar? If so, then the interference is from outside the amp, and the cable is picking up the interference like an antenna. That wouldn't indicate a power issue.
