theflyingturtle
Hi! I'm trying to build a rig that is LP > Marshall 18 watt > 1x12. It's going in my practice room as a toy. I don't gig. I am going for classic rock/blues tones so I think I need a Marshall 1x12 and a Greenback? I've never done this before and know little about the speaker/cab part of the equation. Whatever I am looking for has to be wide enough to support the head and an open back. What am I looking for?
theflyingturtle
Ah! Sorry to be unclear. What I meant to say is that I need to buy an extension cabinet and a speaker. Thanks for letting me know.
theflyingturtle
Do you want to build one or get one off the shelf? Does "build one" mean buying a cabinet and a speaker separately? if so then yeah, sure. It sounds like fun.
theflyingturtle
Yes. Here is an option. I love Ted Weber speakers and have one in my Fender Hot Rod Extension Cab and one in my Fender Blues Jr. Soon I am going to replace the speakers in my Fender DeVille them. Ted Weber also has pre-made cabs. Here is a cheaper option http://www.ebay.com/itm/1x12-Guitar-Speaker-Extension-Empty-Cabinet-Black-Elephant-skin-Finish-Tolex-/350634014897?hash=item51a36a78b1:g:HZMAAOSwOgdYzPo7 I agree. I have a 1x10 open backed cab with a 10 inch Blue Pup in it. I love that cabinet.
american cheez
i have a fuchs semi-open 1x12 w/ a british greenback. probably the nicest sounding cab i ever had. i am continually on the look out for another, because buying one new is more money that i want to spend. but i get great sound from this cab, i love it. Megafrog
I really like the sound from Greenbacks. Great speaker for a solid Brit sound.
theflyingturtle
I really like the sound from Greenbacks. Great speaker for a solid Brit sound. That's what I thought. I've never owned one before but LP>Marhall>Greenback seemed like one of the standard, classic tones of classic rock that I have not spent any time with before. I am looking forward to trying it out.
