New Vinyl Album Day. These came today. Yes - Close To The Edge, and The Beatles - The Beatles (AKA The White Album) both in stereo and mono formats. The one with the white sticker is the mono one. All 3 are 180 gram vinyl. The sad part about Close To The Edge is it does not have the green sleeve with the lyrics like when you got it back in the day. Close To The Edge was half speed mastered. I have my original copy I will swap it out for. Gonna give them a run through when I have time. These are two my favorite albums.

Ha! Do you have your Watts Parastatic Disc Preener? I was a vinyl freak and broke up with girlfriends for not handling my albums by the edges. I would play them once on a studio quality Dual turntable while recording on cassette and tuck them back into their milk crates. That was waay back in the seventies and I would never re-live playing records, though I still have 3 crates of good condition records, many played just once. Think my kid will want them at some point. Got the high end sound system tweeked just right piped through Sirius radio now and wouldn't trade it for anything. Outlaw Country, yeah!

No, I just got on the Zappa website the other day and saw them. I know Joe's Garage is one of them. That is one of my top 5 FZ albums. Used the have it on vinyl, but replaced it with a CD in the digital age.

No subwoofer. We have one for the TV, but not in my man-cave with my stereo system.

No I have the Discwasher System. I even used to have the Zero Stat Anti Static Gun. I'm sure you know what I am talking about. I was glad when CD's came, no more hiss, pops, skips ect. But looking at that artwork on a small CD blows.

I have all the new Iron Maiden reissues after Seventh Son coming in the mail, there are a few subpar albums in the bunch but I figured I'd get them before they become scarce.

I have all the originals up to Seventh Son and some of them in more than one version but after that I only bought them in CD.

I just came back from a couple of days of ProgPower Fest in Atlanta and will be buying a couple of albums from some of those bands.

Well I've started to sell my old vinyl only about 50 half singles half albums, none of it played for 30 - 40 years or so.
So I expect it to be all originals mainly from the late 60's through the 70's. I'd forgotten some but could hear them in my head.
Rock, Pop, Punk, New Wave kind of stuff. Great tunes. Those were the days.

Without derailing this thread.

It was fun, always heard of that Fest but I thought it was all prog, it is not, it is actually Prog and Power Metal. It was a nice variety of bands.

A friend was going to take his nephew, but his nephew started a new job that he could not pass up and I was invited for free, we went for the two days of the fest which are the cheaper days.

There were some good bands, a couple of screamo with prog influence, others straight up power metal which I have never understood why is not popular at all in the States and some prog bands that are just too much for me, like Haken in which case I focused my attention on the drummer.

The surprise, Metal Church played headliner Thursday night and just thinking of it gives me chills, they came out sounding solid, heavy, powerful and put on a great show. American power metal at its best. Very charismatic lead singer, and very good. (at some point he got off stage and went to give a hug to each person on a wheel chair).

The line up:

Wednesday
10:30PM-CLOSE HAKEN UK
8:15PM-9:45PM ORPHANED LAND ISRAEL
6:30PM-7:45PM SERENITY AUSTRIA
5:00PM-6:00PM POWER QUEST UK

Thursday
10:30PM-CLOSE METAL CHURCH USA
8:15PM-9:45PM BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME USA
6:30PM-7:45PM VANDEN PLAS GERMANY
5:00PM-6:00PM TWILIGHT FORCE SWEDEN
4:00PM-4:30PM NEXT TO NONE USA

Sweet. I liked Metal Church. Not sure if pop "metal" pushed them off or if the guitarist who ran the band just never got the right combination in place.

I guess he made some scratch off this one though....
