Rumourz Guitar
Good morning, My name is Matt and I wanted to say hello. I have a question that i hope I can get help with. I have a 1979 Les Paul Custom Silverburst. I got the guitar in 1988 and it had Dimarzio Super Distortion pickups in the bridge position. I am looking to restore the guitar back to factory and need help in finding out what type of p/u it had at the time of production. Thanks again for the help! arlographic
I saw somewhere online that a '79 LP SB had "original T-Tops" in it. (http://www.mylespaul.com/threads/fs-1979-les-paul-custom-silverburst.255325/) Another similar '79 Custom (non-SB) had "'PAT NO' t-top humbuckers". I'm seeing '79 T-Tops going for $190ea, to $650/set on Ebay.
Pesh
+1 to the above; T-Tops were the most likely, although Gibson occasionally used a model called a Super-Humbucker I believe. T-Tops would be period-correct, though.
